Why does summer reading matter?
-Children gain skills needed to start kindergarten
-Research shows that reading 20 minutes a day over the summer helps prevent summer learning loss.
Why summer learning?
-People learn in different ways and many different activities can be educational for all ages.
-Our challenges offer flexibility in how customers participate.
-Learning how to set and meet goals is one of the many ways summer learning helps teens develop into healthy, productive adults.
Adult brains benefit from regular learning activities, like reading.
-Community engagement with library partners.
Summer Break '24 Goals:
-Increase registration by a 3% increase from SB23
-Increase completions by a 3% increase from SB23
Community Challenge: 10.5 million minutes
Group Goals:
-Increase registration by 3% - last year we had 81 groups registered.
-Have 85% of groups registered be active.
